Carme Chaparro mourns father on anniversary with heartfelt tribute
Spanish journalist and TV presenter Carme Chaparro marked the first anniversary of her father Josep's death with an emotional post on social media. In a video and accompanying letter she wrote, “I called your mobile, but hung up before it even rang. Today I cannot stop crying,” expressing the pain of his absence and recalling how his example continues to guide her.
Chaparro shared personal photos and reflected that “the pain is not a straight line” and that she has stopped fighting it, seeing it as “the exact measure of how much you loved me.” The tribute attracted supportive messages from fellow media figures such as Máximo Huerta, Sara Carbonero, Helena Resano and Pablo Rivero. Earlier, she had revealed that her father had died in May 2025 after a bout with COVID‑19, and she has previously spoken publicly about her own health challenges, including Ménière’s syndrome.
The post underscores Chaparro’s openness about her private grief, resonating with her roughly 200,000 followers who responded with condolences and encouragement.
