Carme Noguera celebrates 112th birthday as Catalonia's oldest resident
Carme Noguera, the oldest woman in Catalonia, has turned 112 years old. Born in Olot in 1914 during the onset of World War I, she has lived through over a century of significant historical shifts.
Noguera trained as a nurse during the Spanish Civil War as part of the first class of the Republican Generalitat's School of Nursing. Reflecting on her long life, she attributes her longevity to a simple lifestyle, stating, “I have gone doing, eating, sleeping and working like everyone else.”
She currently resides in Taradell with her daughter. Noguera previously met Maria Branyas, who was the world's oldest person before her death in 2024. According to the LongeviQuest portal, Noguera is currently ranked among the top 70 oldest people in the world.
