Carmela López declares end to PSdeG crisis in Lugo

Carmela López, President of the Lugo Provincial Council and Mayor of Burela, has declared the internal crisis within the provincial PSdeG closed. The political instability followed the resignation of José Tomé in late 2025 following allegations of sexual harassment, which led to a complaint by the Lugo Prosecutor's Office.

López, who assumed the presidency in January with support from the PSdeG, BNG, and Tomé, stated her focus remains on infrastructure and social services. Key priorities include improving road networks in the province and expanding elderly care facilities, specifically targeting the opening of a new residence in A Pobra do Brollón. Additionally, she mentioned ongoing discussions with the State Secretariat for Energy to support energy-intensive companies like Alcoa in the A Mariña region.
