Carmelo Conte releases new book on Italian judiciary and politics

Jurist and former minister Carmelo Conte has released a new book titled ‘Processi e Politica. Dopostoria di un conflitto tra poteri’ (Trials and Politics: Post-history of a conflict between powers), published by Baldini+Castoldi. The work examines the historical and evolving relationship between the Italian judiciary and political institutions from the post-war era to the present.

In his analysis, Conte argues that the judiciary has become the most powerful force in Italy, a shift he attributes to the delegitimization of political parties following the ‘Mani Pulite’ investigations in the 1990s. He explores how the separation of powers has been challenged by various political and interest groups throughout the history of the Republic.

The book will be presented on September 25 at the Banca Monte Pruno Culture Hall in Sant’Arsenio. The event will feature discussions involving former deputies and banking officials regarding the social and institutional consequences of major judicial events in Italy.
