Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal expands educational aid in Nuevo Laredo

Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal has implemented an educational policy in Nuevo Laredo designed to expand opportunities for thousands of students. Ahead of her second report, the mayor announced that the municipal government has granted more than 54,000 scholarships, representing an investment of approximately 284 million pesos.

These programs include Special Education Scholarships, Graduation Scholarships, and University Excellence Scholarships, alongside initiatives supporting sports talent, cultural development, and school retention. The municipal strategy has evolved to complement federal and state efforts; specifically, the introduction of the federal Rita Cetina Scholarship allowed the local government to reorient its resources toward higher secondary and higher education levels, avoiding the duplication of public funds.
