Carmen Merino testifies in investigation of partner's death

Carmen Merino has testified before a judge regarding the death of her partner, Jesús María Baranda, in Castro Urdiales, Cantabria. Merino is currently under investigation in a case involving the discovery of Baranda's skull, which had previously been reported as missing.

During her testimony, Merino denied allegations that she decapitated her partner or that she delivered his head to a friend in a package. She claimed the package actually contained erotic toys. Merino has also suggested the involvement of third parties, including the victim's brother and a friend to whom she left the aforementioned package.

Judicial evidence currently contradicts some of Merino's previous statements. While she initially claimed that messages sent from phones attributed to the victim originated from Fuenterrabía or France, investigators found that the messages were consistently sent from Castro Urdiales or its immediate surroundings. No judicial resolution has yet proven the facts of the case.
