Carmignano launches free agronomy service for organic farmers
The municipality of Carmignano is launching ‘Sportello verde’, a free agronomy service designed to support small-scale producers, farmers, and gardening enthusiasts. Starting in November at the town hall, the initiative aims to promote sustainable and organic farming practices.
Developed by the Montalbano Biological District with financial support from the municipality, the service will initially operate bi-weekly, moving to a weekly schedule next spring. Agronomist Simone Randelli will lead the service, providing technical guidance on soil health, water conservation, biodiversity, and the necessary documentation for organic certification. The program seeks to assist those lacking the resources to hire professional consultants, helping them implement natural soil enrichment and sustainable production methods. Currently, over 51% of the cultivated agricultural area in Carmignano utilizes organic methods.
