Carmine Appice honors the legacy of drummer Dino Danelli

In a recent interview with Classic Rock, Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice discussed his influence on hard rock and highlighted the legacy of Dino Danelli, the late drummer and co-founder of The Rascals.

Appice attributed his powerful drumming style to the lack of personal monitor systems (PAs) during his early career. To ensure he could be heard, he utilized larger equipment and hit the drums with significant force. When asked to compare himself to other legendary drummers like John Bonham, Ginger Baker, and Keith Moon, Appice noted that while each was unique, Danelli deserves more historical recognition for his contributions to the genre.

Danelli, who passed away in 2022, helped lead The Rascals to several US number one hits between 1965 and 1969.
