Carnan debuts fashion collection inspired by Oscar Niemeyer

The Brazilian fashion brand Carnan held its first independent runway show at the Caminho Niemeyer in Niterói. The collection, titled ‘Carnan & Niemeyer’, was created in partnership with the Instituto Oscar Niemeyer and draws direct inspiration from the architectural works of the celebrated modernist architect.

Designers Paulo Henrique Carneiro and Breno Fernandes translated Niemeyer’s signature curves and forms into various garments. The collection features references to iconic structures such as the Edifício Copan, the Itamaraty Palace, the Apoteose Arch, and the Cathedral in Brasília. Design elements include jacquard patterns, sinuous cutouts, pleats, and specific silhouettes that evoke the architect's legacy.

The presentation showcased the brand's evolution from its streetwear roots toward more mature tailoring and a growing women's line. The show also highlighted strategic partnerships, including the use of Orient Special Caliber watches by models on the runway.
