Carnival celebrations expand in Heist and Essen

Carnival celebrations are expanding in the Belgian regions of Heist and Essen through new organized events and media coverage.

In Heist, a carnival cruise titled ‘Lijn 11’ is scheduled for November 11, 2026. The event features a tour through nine local cafés, accompanied by music from DJ Cee Fisee and organization by BK10e. The cruise, which costs 30 euros and includes nine drinks and snacks, will also serve as the platform to introduce the 20th carnival pin, symbolically marking the start of the new season.

In Essen, the municipality has partnered with ATV to broadcast the Essen carnival parade live on February 7, 2027. As the largest carnival parade in the Noorderkempen region, the event has been a local tradition for over sixty years. The partnership includes an 11-day promotional campaign to highlight the community spirit and local identity of Essen, supporting the carnival association De Ossekoppen.
