Carol Davila University hosts launch of two medical books
The Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest is hosting the launch of two new books focused on the transmission of knowledge, professional memory, and intergenerational dialogue. The event is part of the University Days celebrations under the theme ‘Initiation. Evolution. Excellence.’
The first volume, ‘Vechi și nou în semiologia psihiatrică’ (Old and New in Psychiatric Semiology), coordinated by Simona Trifu and Beatrice Popescu, emphasizes the importance of clinical observation and precise terminology in psychiatry. It aims to bridge traditional psychiatric semiology with contemporary medical language by focusing on the clinician's ability to observe and describe mental phenomena without reducing patients to diagnostic labels.
The second volume, ‘Mentorat și filiație’ (Mentorship and Filiation), coordinated by Simona Trifu, explores the human and ethical dimensions of professional transmission. Developed from discussions held at the Romanian Peasant Museum, the book examines mentorship through interdisciplinary lenses, including psychoanalysis and psychiatry, focusing on the relationship between mentors and disciples.
