Carola Häggkvist documentary to premiere in Sweden

A new documentary titled ‘Carola!’ is set to premiere in Swedish cinemas on August 21. Directed by My Sandström, the film traces the life of pop icon Carola Häggkvist from her 1983 breakthrough with the song ‘Främling’ to the present day.

The documentary explores various stages of her life, including her upbringing in Norsborg, her Eurovision victory in 1991, her experiences with faith, and her time in the United States. Häggkvist reflects on periods of feeling controlled by powerful men in her life and her struggles with loneliness and feeling like a product during a collaboration with the Bee Gees.

In addition to the film, Häggkvist is releasing an autobiography titled ‘Jag är Carola!’ in September. While the film offers a perspective on her life captured by the director over three years, Häggkvist noted that the book is her own personal account.
