Carolana reveals cervical cancer diagnosis and recovery

Olympic volleyball medalist Ana Carolina, known as Carolana, has revealed she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in April. The former Brazilian national team player shared her experience on social media to emphasize the importance of preventive healthcare and routine medical exams.

Carolana, who currently plays for Nebraska in the United States, underwent two surgeries in June and August. She stated that the tumor was detected in its early stages during a routine consultation, which facilitated her successful treatment. She confirmed she is now healthy and out of danger.

In her announcement, which coincided with the 'Yellow September' awareness campaign, she described the period as challenging and noted that the medical decisions made would have a permanent impact on her life. She expressed her intention to continue her professional volleyball career for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
