Carolin Kebekus discusses parenting challenges and white lies

Comedian Carolin Kebekus has shared insights into the gap between her parenting ideals and reality. In an interview with the Deutsche Presse-Agentur in Cologne, the 46-year-old revealed that she has abandoned several of her initial parenting resolutions.

Kebekus noted that while she initially intended to avoid giving her child sugar, she provided salted caramel ice cream on the child's first birthday. She also mentioned that her nearly three-year-old child has begun chewing gum, a practice she noted is not typically suitable for toddlers, but is influenced by the presence of other children in her large patchwork family.

Furthermore, Kebekus admitted to using white lies to manage her child, such as claiming the zoo was closed or telling the child that the character from the program ‘Sendung mit der Maus’ was sleeping or sick to avoid watching the show. She described her current parenting approach as involving “lies, extortion, and bribery.”

Topics regarding children and parenting will be featured in the upcoming ‘Carolin Kebekus Show’ on Thursday, featuring guest Hazel Brugger.
