Atlético de San Luis defeats Pumas 3-2 in Liga MX

Atlético de San Luis defeated Pumas UNAM 3-2 in a Matchday 10 fixture of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament at Estadio Olímpico Universitario. The match was heavily influenced by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) interventions, which resulted in three penalties.

Sébastien Salles-Lamonge was the standout performer for San Luis, scoring twice from the penalty spot in the 23rd and 79th minutes. David Rodríguez added a third goal for the visitors with a long-range strike in the 55th minute. Pumas attempted a comeback through goals from Rodrigo López, who scored a spectacular strike from outside the box, and Juninho, who converted a penalty in the 90th minute.

The loss leaves Pumas in a difficult position in the standings, sitting in 13th place with 12 points and having secured only one victory in their last seven matches. The defeat has also drawn criticism toward the management of head coach Esteban Solari.
