Carolina Hurricanes sign goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov to extension

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov to a two-year contract extension. The deal, which carries an average annual value of $3.95 million, will begin with the 2027-28 season and run through the 2028-29 season.

Kochetkov is currently in the final year of a four-year contract. The extension follows the departure of Frederik Andersen, who joined the Edmonton Oilers in free agency. Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky praised Kochetkov’s aggressive style, stating, “Pyotr is an incredibly talented goalie whose aggressive style fits our team very well.”

Kochetkov, a member of the Hurricanes' 2025-26 Stanley Cup-winning squad, has faced challenges with health in recent seasons. He is expected to serve as part of a goaltending duo alongside Brandon Bussi for the upcoming season.
