Carolina Mejía consolidates support for 2028 presidential bid

Carolina Mejía, the current Mayor of the National District and a presidential aspirant for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), is actively consolidating support for her 2028 campaign. A significant development includes the formal endorsement from political leader Geanilda Vásquez, who integrated her political team into the ‘Carolina 2028’ project, citing shared values and Mejía’s management experience.

Mejía’s campaign strategy involves building a broad coalition of national leaders, legislators, and local authorities. Key figures such as Senate President Ricardo de los Santos have joined the campaign coordination. The project claims to have the backing of over 50 deputies, eight senators, and more than 120 mayors and municipal directors.

In addition to political organizing, Mejía has maintained a presence in various communities, including Barahona and La Yuca del Naco, to engage with residents and local leaders. Her recent activities also included supervising public works and conducting social and medical operations in the Villas Agrícolas sector of Santo Domingo.
