Carolina Mejía highlighted for Distrito Nacional management
Carolina Mejía, the Mayor of the Distrito Nacional, is being highlighted for her administrative track record following her reelection. After winning her first term in 2020 with 57.46% of the vote, she secured a second term in 2024 with 61.11%.
Her administration has been recognized by the SISMAP Municipal, which ranks the Distrito Nacional among the best-performing local governments in the country, particularly in service delivery. Additionally, the international firm CB Global Data has repeatedly ranked her at the top of positive assessment rankings among leaders of 18 Latin American capitals, including cities in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, and Panama.
Mejía is noted for maintaining continuity by building upon valuable projects from previous administrations rather than attempting to erase them.
