Carolina Mejía promotes innovation and MSME support in Dominican Republic

Carolina Mejía has identified technological innovation, state-level productivity, and support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) as the three pillars necessary to transform the future of the Dominican Republic.

Speaking at the EmprendeLab program, an innovation and acceleration initiative by Promipyme, Mejía highlighted the success of Centro Futuro. This initiative, established through a partnership involving the National District Mayor's Office, provides free technical and professional training to youth. To date, 1,446 young people have completed the program, with women representing 60% of the participants.

Mejía emphasized that while the country has achieved connectivity, the next step is converting that connectivity into productivity. She advocated for specialized financing for new entrepreneurs and the strengthening of training in areas such as finance, digitalization, sales, and exports.
