Carolina Panthers defeat Houston Texans 16-13 in preseason finale

The Carolina Panthers defeated the Houston Texans 16-13 in their preseason finale at Bank of America Stadium. The victory was aided by a 1-yard touchdown run from rookie Miles Davis and three field goals from Ryan Fitzgerald.

Carolina's fourth-string quarterback Kyle Trask completed 19 of 28 passes for 147 yards and led four scoring drives. For the Texans, Brett Rypien completed 13 of 23 passes for 101 yards, including a late 6-yard touchdown pass to Zay Jones. The Texans' final attempt to take the lead was thwarted when Jeremiah Moon sacked Rypien, forcing a fumble.

With many starters resting, the game provided significant playing time for roster depth. Houston's Josh Kelly led the team in receiving with three catches for 36 yards, while linebacker Aiden Fisher recorded 12 total tackles.
