Carolina Panthers sign QB Kyle Trask following Haynes King injury

The Carolina Panthers have signed quarterback Kyle Trask to bolster their roster depth following an injury to rookie Haynes King. King sustained a hamstring injury during the Panthers' 33-30 preseason victory over the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game. The team describes King's condition as “week-to-week.”

Trask, 28, previously played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he worked under current Panthers head coach Dave Canales. His signing provides a veteran option behind presumed starter Bryce Young and primary backup Kenny Pickett. To make room for Trask on the roster, the Panthers waived wide receiver Malick Meiga with an injury designation and linebacker Nick Hampton.
