Carolina Panthers cornerbacks Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson placed on injured reserve

The Carolina Panthers have placed starting cornerbacks Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson on injured reserve, with both players expected to miss approximately eight weeks. Horn suffered a quadriceps injury during a recent game against the Cleveland Browns, while Jackson underwent surgery for a groin injury.

To address the depleted secondary, the Panthers will rely on Akayleb Evans and rookie Will Lee III to start at cornerback, with Chau Smith-Wade expected to play the nickel position. The defensive unit faces an immediate challenge this Sunday night against the Detroit Lions, who currently rank high in passing and scoring.

Additionally, wide receiver Jalen Coker is listed as questionable for the upcoming game due to a groin injury. Head coach Dave Canales indicated that Coker’s availability will likely be determined by his pregame workout. If Coker is unable to play, the team may activate Ja’seem Reed from the practice squad.
