Carolina Panthers finalize 53-man roster with deep rookie class

The Carolina Panthers have finalized their 53-man roster, featuring a deep rookie class and an unusual concentration of tight ends. Most drafted rookies secured spots, including first-round pick Monroe Freeling, who is expected to occupy a starting position on the offensive line. Second-round pick Lee Hunter also made the roster due to defensive line depth needs. Other notable additions include cornerback Will Lee III, center Sam Hecht, safety Zakee Wheatley, and seventh-round linebacker Jackson Kuwatch.

In a move that drew attention within NFL circles, the Panthers opted to keep five tight ends on the initial roster. Head coach Dave Canales and general manager Dan Morgan indicated that while the group is currently committed, the specific game-day usage of the five players is still being determined. The tight end room was bolstered by the signing of free agent Darren Waller, joining existing players such as Tommy Tremble and Ja’Tavion Sanders.
