Carolina Panthers rookie Chris Brazzell out for season with torn LCL

The Carolina Panthers placed rookie wide receiver Chris Brazzell II on season‑ending injured reserve after he underwent surgery to repair a torn lateral collateral ligament (LCL) suffered during a training‑camp practice. Brazzell, the No. 83 overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, signed a four‑year rookie contract worth $6.94 million and was expected to provide an immediate speed threat for the team.

Brazzell, a 22‑year‑old former Tulane and Tennessee player who recorded 136 college catches for 2,072 yards and 16 touchdowns, will miss his entire debut season. The loss adds to a growing list of Panthers injuries and leaves quarterback Bryce Young with fewer reliable receiving options as the team looks to rely more on veteran Adam Thielen and second‑year receiver Xavier Legette.
