Caroline Ellison joins nonprofit Manifund in technical role
Caroline Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research who cooperated with prosecutors following the collapse of the FTX crypto exchange, has taken a full-time role at the nonprofit grant platform Manifund.
Manifund founder Austin Chen announced the hiring, framing it as an opportunity for redemption. Ellison, who served prison time in connection with the FTX fraud case, will focus on technical infrastructure, logistics, and customer support rather than managing portfolios or selecting funded projects. This distinction is noted as being important regarding her existing regulatory limitations.
During her initial period at the organization, Ellison worked under the pseudonym ‘Carol.’ Her early tasks included developing a reconciliation tool that identified misreported transactions in the Manifund database. Manifund operates as an open platform connecting donors and fundraisers, having raised $17.2 million for various projects to date.
