Carúpano launches cultural heritage initiatives and historical commemorations
In Carúpano, Sucre state, new initiatives have been launched to preserve and promote local historical and cultural identity. The Fundación para el Acervo e Identidad Cultural (FUNDACERVO) was officially presented by its president, Jhennifer Marín. The foundation aims to rescue, protect, and disseminate the patrimonial values, folkloric traditions, and historical memory of Sucre state by providing direct support to local artists.
Additionally, local historians and cultural organizations held a symposium at the Ateneo Luis Mariano Rivera to commemorate the 215th anniversary of the Manifiesto de Carúpano. The event, titled ‘La Carta de Jamaica al Manifiesto de Carúpano como doctrina bolivariana’, examined the historical significance of the Jamaica Letter and the Manifiesto de Carúpano, highlighting the revolutionary thought of Simón Bolívar during the independence movement.
