Carpenter dies, son missing after drowning at Antón Lizardo, Veracruz

A father and his teenage son, both carpenters, were swept away by strong currents while swimming at Antón Lizardo beach in the Alvarado municipality of Veracruz, Mexico. The father, identified as Mario H., about 40 years old, was rescued by municipal civil‑protection responders but was declared dead on shore. His son, Josué H., around 16, remains missing despite a coordinated search involving the state police, naval police, the Secretariat of the Navy, civil‑protection units and local fishermen.

The victims had traveled from Xalapa to the coastal area for recreation. Authorities continue land and sea operations to locate the teenager while forensic teams from the Veracruz prosecutor's office investigate the incident.
