Carpenter in Santa Fe crafts armchair for Pope Leo XIV

Enrique Mehring, a carpenter from Esperanza, Santa Fe, is handcrafting a custom armchair for Pope Leo XIV to use during his upcoming visit to Argentina. The Pope is scheduled to visit Luján between November 8 and 11, with a mass planned at the Basilica of Luján on Wednesday, November 11.

Working without technical blueprints, Mehring relied on a reference photograph and basic measurements to design the piece. The armchair stands 1.25 meters tall and is constructed from guatambú and paraíso wood in a Nordic style. The final product will feature white velvet upholstery and gold detailing.
