Carpi Diocese mourns death of priest Luciano Ferrari

The Diocese of Carpi has announced the death of Don Luciano Ferrari, who passed away at the age of 96 on Friday, October 30, at the Casa del Clero in Carpi. As the dean of the Carpi clergy, Ferrari had a long and dedicated career in service to the Church.

Born in Carpi in 1930, he was ordained a priest in 1954. His ministry included roles as a chaplain in Budrione, Cividale, and Mirandola, and serving as the parish priest of Vallalta for 20 years. He was notably active in health pastoral care, serving as chaplain for the Santa Maria Bianca Hospital and the local nursing home in Mirandola.

Ferrari also served as the Rector of the Church of San Francesco in Mirandola until the 2012 earthquake. Following his retirement in 2020, he resided at the Casa del Clero in Cognento and later at the Seminary in Carpi.
