Carquinez Bridge westbound lanes to close for weekend repaving
Caltrans has announced a 53-hour closure of the westbound direction of the Carquinez Bridge, also known as the Alfred Zampa Memorial Bridge, for repaving work. The closure is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. on Friday night and is expected to conclude by 3 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24.
The work area extends from the I-80/I-780 ramp in Vallejo to Crockett. In addition to the roadway, the pedestrian and bike paths will also be closed throughout the weekend. Crews will be repaving the entire deck of the westbound span and performing maintenance tasks such as vegetation control and graffiti removal.
Eastbound I-80 will remain open. Caltrans suggests motorists traveling westbound from the Sacramento area use I-680 and the Benicia Bridge via Highway 4. Drivers in the Vallejo area are advised to use eastbound I-780 to southbound I-680 and the Benicia Bridge to bypass the closure.
