Carracedo de Compludo remains isolated following severe flooding

Residents of Carracedo de Compludo, a locality within the Ponferrada municipality, remain isolated five days after a severe flood destroyed approximately one kilometer of the area's only access road. The damage has left nine residents, including two minors, unable to leave the village by standard vehicles, restricting access to footpaths or off-road motorcycles.

The Socialist Municipal Group of Ponferrada has formally demanded that the Junta de Castilla y León include Carracedo de Compludo in the request for a declaration of a severely affected zone. The group criticized the regional government for excluding the village from emergency declarations made for Manzanedo de Valdueza and Bouzas, calling the omission “incomprehensible and unjustifiable.”

Local authorities, including neighborhood mayor Carlos de la Torre, have highlighted the lack of progress in restoring connectivity. While the Provincial Council of León is evaluating potential actions to assist the residents despite jurisdictional limitations, local officials and residents report that no significant repair work has commenced to reopen the vital transport link.
