Casino Group undergoes major restructuring and store sales FAST-MOVING
The Casino Group is undergoing a major financial and operational restructuring to address significant debt. Under the leadership of Daniel Kretinsky, the company is implementing a plan to reduce its liabilities and reorganize its retail footprint.
A central component of this transformation involves the transfer of numerous store locations to competitors. Intermarché is acquiring hundreds of Casino sites, while Auchan and Carrefour are also positioned to take over various points of sale. This shift includes the conversion of many Casino-branded stores into Intermarché or Netto locations.
The restructuring has raised concerns regarding job security, as unions have expressed anxiety over potential layoffs and changes in employment status for thousands of workers. The company's debt levels, which have reached several billion euros, remain a critical factor in its ongoing efforts to stabilize its financial position and maintain its presence in the French retail market.
