Carrefour recalls cheese in Poland due to Listeria contamination

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) has issued an urgent warning regarding the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in a specific batch of cheese sold at Carrefour stores in Poland. The contaminated product is ‘SER GAŁKA Z ZAKOPANEGO 280 g’, produced by PPHU Balser Marian Górz (Czarny Dunajec) and distributed by Carrefour Polska.

Carrefour Polska has suspended sales of the product and initiated disposal procedures. Additionally, the District Veterinary Officer in Nowy Targ has halted production at the manufacturing facility until the cause is identified and safety can be guaranteed.

Listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacterium, can be life-threatening, particularly for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. Consumers who have purchased the product are advised not to consume it and to either discard it or return it to a Carrefour store.
