Carrefour Poland pulls several meat products over Listeria risk

Carrefour stores in Poland announced the urgent withdrawal of multiple meat products after testing revealed the presence of the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled items include Simpl Boczek 150 g (bacon) and two ready‑made meats: MC Ser Twardy 40 g (hard grated cheese) and PG Szynka Gotowana w Plastrach 100 g (cooked ham). Listeria can cause listeriosis, a serious infection especially hazardous to pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals.

Consumers who have purchased any of the specified batches are urged not to consume the products and to return them to any Carrefour outlet for a full refund. No receipt is required for the refund. Carrefour has also previously recalled other ham and cheese items for the same contamination, reinforcing its advisory to discard or return all affected products.

The retailer’s communications stress that the recall applies to the listed batch numbers and expiry dates and that anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, nausea or diarrhoea after consumption should seek medical attention.
