Carrefour reports sales growth in France and Spain for H1 2026
Carrefour is strengthening its position in the French grocery market by keeping prices competitive, expanding its private‑label range, modernising stores and boosting digital services such as home delivery and click‑and‑collect. The retailer is also advancing sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction and recyclable packaging.
In Spain, Carrefour’s subsidiary posted a 2.7% rise in first‑half sales to €5.73 billion, marking its seventh consecutive month of growth and the strongest inter‑annual increase among the group’s main markets. The Spanish arm opened 78 new stores, lifted its recurring operating income to €177 million (+7.3%) and improved the operating margin to 3.3%. At the group level, total first‑half sales reached €43.79 billion (+2.1%) and operating income grew 1.8% to €757 million. CEO Alexandre Bompard said the “Carrefour 2030” plan, “firmly centred on customers and retail excellence,” drove the performance despite global geopolitical uncertainty.
