Carrefour Romania marks artisan program anniversary amid ownership transition
Carrefour Romania is marking the first anniversary of its 'De aici, de aproape – Artizani Locali' program by hosting a producer fair at the ParkLake Shopping Center in Bucharest from September 25 to 27. The event features 20 local producers showcasing a variety of goods, including traditional cheeses, meats, artisanal beverages, and vegan products.
Since its launch a year ago, the initiative has expanded from nine artisans to over 530 small businesses. Currently, more than 6,300 artisan products are available across more than 240 Carrefour stores in Romania. CEO Gilles Ballot stated that the program aims to provide a distribution channel for small family businesses to reach national retail shelves.
This initiative occurs amid a significant transition for the retailer in Romania. Following the acquisition of Carrefour's Romanian operations by Dragoș and Adrian Pavăl, the owners of Dedeman, reports indicate that the stores are expected to undergo rebranding to replace the Carrefour logo.
