CarrefourSA shares transferred to A101’s Yeni Mağazacılık, forming large Turkish retailer

CarrefourSA’s 89.28% shareholding was transferred to Yeni Mağazacılık A.Ş., the parent company of discount chain A101. The transaction, valued at about $325 million, included the 57.12% stake held by Sabancı Holding and the 32.16% held by Carrefour Nederland BV. All required legal steps, including approval from Turkey’s Competition Authority, were completed and the deal closed in April 2026. Following the transfer, Hatice Evren was appointed CEO of CarrefourSA.

Although the two brands will now be owned by the same holding company, they will continue to operate independently with separate management structures and brand identities. The combined store network exceeds 14,000 outlets, and the merged entity is projected to hold roughly 9.6% of the organized food‑retail market in Turkey for 2025, positioning it behind market leaders BİM, Migros and A101.
