Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba expressed frustration regarding a new production rule that limited the third judge's feedback to a single word. Following the elimination of chef Giada De Laurentiis and partner Alan Bersten during the third episode of season 35, Inaba used social media to share the more detailed praise she was unable to deliver on air.

Inaba described De Laurentiis' journey as “inspiring” and commended her for the courage to step outside her comfort zone as a “true and absolute beginner.” De Laurentiis, who was eliminated after receiving 12 out of 30 points for her salsa, expressed gratitude for the support received and encouraged others to try things that scare them.

The one-word critique rule has drawn criticism from viewers, who argued the format is unhelpful for contestants requiring constructive guidance.
