Carrie series adaptation starring Summer H. Howell announced

An eight-episode series adaptation of Stephen King’s debut novel, ‘Carrie’, is set to premiere starring Summer H. Howell. Produced by MGM and helmed by Mike Flanagan, the series aims to modernize the story by exploring themes such as the impact of cyberbullying.

Sissy Spacek, who portrayed the titular character in the original 1976 film, has expressed her support for the project, describing it as a “beautiful homage.” During discussions regarding the production, Spacek noted the shared experience of working with realistic movie blood, a sentiment echoed by Howell.

The first episode, titled “First Period,” follows Carrie as she navigates the transition to public school as a sophomore following her father's death. The narrative depicts her struggles with social norms and the onset of bullying, while also introducing elements of her mother Margaret’s protective and paranoid nature.
