Carrie Underwood returns to Sunday Night Football and discusses Tennessee farm life
Singer Carrie Underwood is returning for her 14th consecutive season performing the opening theme for NBC’s Sunday Night Football. For the 2026 season opener, Underwood is incorporating a rock influence by using a reworked version of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ song, ‘I Hate Myself for Loving You.’
In addition to her musical commitments, Underwood has discussed the transition to her life on a 400-acre farm near Nashville, Tennessee. She described the lifestyle as a ‘polar opposite’ to her public persona, involving gardening, cooking, and household chores alongside her husband, Mike Fisher, and their two sons. Underwood noted that while she continues to film American Idol in Los Angeles, she has stepped back from touring to prioritize her family and a more grounded reality away from the entertainment industry.
