Carrizal, Miranda suffers heavy rain damage and landslides

Heavy rainfall in the Carrizal municipality of Miranda has caused significant damage, including at least 76 homes affected by flooding or roof damage. Local authorities reported 99 landslides of varying magnitudes, 13 fallen trees, and eight instances of creek and stream overflows.

The most severe incident occurred in the José Manuel Álvarez sector, where a structural collapse injured three people. All three individuals received timely medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition.

A contingency plan has been activated with support from the national government. The Ministry of Public Works has deployed heavy machinery, including two backhoes, four dump trucks, and other specialized vehicles, to clear sediment from main roads and restore traffic. Efforts are also underway to coordinate with utility companies to restore electricity to areas affected by the storm.
