Carro municipality freezes waste management tariff increases

The Municipality of Carro has frozen waste management tariffs, refusing to approve proposed increases of 6.44% for 2025 and 2026. Local officials stated that the cumulative increase would impact municipal funds by over 13%, and they have not received sufficient clarity regarding the underlying costs from the service provider, Iren Ambiente.

Councilor Loriano Isolabella noted that the municipality requested a more modest increase of approximately 3%, but instead faced a dispute regarding lost revenue. The administration is demanding a detailed operational plan from Iren Ambiente to account for fixed and variable costs, including direct and indirect expenses, to justify the proposed rate hikes.
