Carroll High School football season suspended after postgame brawl

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) has suspended the Carroll High School football program for the remainder of the 2026 season, including the postseason, following a postgame brawl. The incident occurred on September 25 during a game against Assumption High School in Napoleonville.

According to authorities, the altercation began after Carroll players moved toward spectators instead of the visitors’ locker room. The fight involved both players and fans, leading deputies to use Tasers to subdue individuals. At least one player and one spectator faced charges for disturbing the peace.

In addition to the program suspension, the LHSAA revoked the coaching cards for Carroll’s varsity football coaches for the 2026-27 school year. The school has also been placed on suspension probation through the 2027 season. All remaining games on Carroll’s schedule will be recorded as forfeits.

Assumption High School also received penalties, including a $500 fine and a requirement to submit an action plan for home athletic events. Assumption will not host any further home football games this season, with remaining matchups being played at opponents' fields.
