Cars.com and CarParts.com Post Q2 Marketplace Gains, Emphasize Data Moats

Cars.com reported second‑quarter revenue of $179.9 million, a 1 % increase year over year, staying within guidance. Dealer revenue rose 3 % and marketplace revenue grew more than 7 %, offsetting an 18 % decline in OEM and national advertising. Adjusted EBITDA reached $53 million, up 4 % YoY, with the margin expanding to 29.4 %.

CarParts.com CEO David Meniane said the company’s three‑decade‑long fitment, purchase‑return and catalog data, combined with AI, creates a durable competitive moat. CarGurus CEO Jason Trevisan highlighted the platform’s half‑billion daily shopper signals that improve dealer analytics and consumer experience, reinforcing their data‑driven advantage.
