Kyle Larson wins Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway

Kyle Larson secured a dominant victory at the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway, marking his second win in three races and extending his lead in the NASCAR Cup Series Chase. Driving the No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, Larson led 235 of the 267 laps and swept both opening stages. He achieved a perfect 76-point day, the first such occurrence under the current points format.

Larson reclaimed the lead from Chase Briscoe with seven laps remaining after Briscoe, who had briefly taken control, lost stability and brushed the outside wall. The win moves Larson to a 26-point advantage over Denny Hamlin in the championship standings. Austin Cindric finished second, followed by Denny Hamlin in third and Briscoe in fourth.

The race weekend was impacted by rain, which canceled both practice and qualifying sessions, forcing the starting lineup to be determined by the NASCAR metric. This caused frustration for some drivers, including Ryan Blaney, who noted the difficulties of starting further back in the pack due to the metric's influence.
