Carsten Maschmeyer criticizes Don Quiff founders on TV
During an episode of the television show ‘Die Höhle der Löwen’, investor Carsten Maschmeyer criticized the founders of the startup Don Quiff for what he described as a business plan that ‘borders on arrogance.’
The founders presented a novel hair wax claiming it could style hair, strengthen roots, and provide UV protection, framing their mission as the ‘rescue of masculinity.’ However, Maschmeyer expressed skepticism regarding the product's claims, noting the absence of supporting scientific studies to justify their promises.
Maschmeyer also questioned the founders' financial qualifications and the feasibility of their business plan, which projected 3.5 million euros in revenue within three years despite the core product not yet being on the market. While other investors like Frank Thelen showed interest, Maschmeyer ultimately declined to invest due to the lack of substance and the questionable financial projections.
