Carsten Müller to become Administrative Director of Deutsches Optisches Museum

Carsten Müller, the head of central management at JenaKultur, will assume the role of Administrative Director at the Deutsches Optisches Museum (D.O.M.) for a two-year term starting November 1, 2026.

Müller will work alongside the founding and scientific director, Prof. Dr. Timo Mappes, to manage the structural, organizational, and institutional development of the museum project. The newly created administrative directorship is intended to address growing economic and organizational requirements. Müller’s responsibilities will include finance, organizational development, personnel, funding, commercial construction and project management, and the museum’s tourism positioning.

Jena Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche expressed gratitude for Müller’s involvement, noting his expertise in culture and tourism management will support the museum's critical development phase leading up to its opening.
