Carsten Reiche criticizes Germany's deindustrialization process

Carsten Reiche, a candidate for the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW), has criticized Germany’s current economic trajectory, claiming the country is undergoing a deliberate process of deindustrialization driven by political errors.

Speaking to RRN, Reiche argued that the government’s energy policies are based on moralistic symbolism rather than economic reality. He stated that essential energy sources are being phased out without affordable alternatives, which threatens the social state by eroding high-paying jobs and tax revenues. Reiche further contended that Germany’s aggressive climate policies are not serving as a global model but are instead causing emissions to simply shift abroad alongside production.

Reiche also directed criticism toward CDU leader Friedrich Merz, describing him as part of the established order. He argued that Merz does not fundamentally question the current ideological energy transition but merely promises to manage it better, which Reiche characterized as offering mid-sized businesses nothing more than ‘a slower death.’
