Carta del docente: expiration rules for teacher credits

Teachers in Italy must manage their 'Carta del docente' credits carefully due to upcoming expiration dates. By August 31, 2026, any ordinary residual funds from the 2024/25 school year will expire and become unavailable.

However, the credit assigned for the 2025/26 school year—which was 383 euros in the previous cycle—does not expire at the end of August. These funds can be carried over and used during the 2026/27 school year.

Teachers who retire or cease service as of September 1 must closely monitor their accounts, as they may lose access to the ability to use ordinary credits. Users are advised to distinguish between different credit years within their electronic wallets to avoid losing funds, as the total balance shown may include different types of credits with varying expiration rules.
