Cartagena advances road safety and port infrastructure projects

Cartagena is undergoing several infrastructure developments aimed at improving safety and urban amenities. The Comunidad de Murcia has commenced construction on a new roundabout at Camino del Sifón on the RM-F35 highway. This six-month project targets a high-accident area that handles over 1.85 million vehicles annually, seeking to improve traffic flow and safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

Simultaneously, Ferrovial has been awarded a 6.1 million euro contract to remodel the area surrounding the Cartagena cruise terminal. As part of the fourth phase of the maritime facade renovation, the project includes creating shaded rest areas, a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists, and a 1,235-square-meter commercial and service building. The works, expected to last twelve months, also aim to enhance the area around the Muralla de Carlos III and incorporate climate-comfort features like green roofs and water elements.
